Botello Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 18, 2026
Botello is a party game played around one phone. We collect as little as possible and sell nothing about you. This page explains exactly what data the app touches and why.
What we collect
Account. When you sign in (Google, Apple, or as a guest) we store a Firebase user ID, and — for Google/Apple sign-in — your name as provided by that service. We never see your password.
Player names. The names you type for the people at your table are stored only on your device so the game can seat them. They are never sent to our servers and never appear in analytics.
Your custom list. Questions and dares you write or favorite are stored on your device; when you sign in, they may sync to your account so they follow you across devices.
Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand which decks and features are used (e.g. "a game was created", "a round was completed"). These events contain no personal content and no player names. Crash reports are collected via Firebase Crashlytics to help us fix bugs.
Purchases. Payments are processed entirely by Google Play or the App Store; we never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to know whether your account owns the premium unlock.
What we don't do
No ads. No selling or sharing of personal data for marketing. No tracking across other companies' apps or websites. Truths are answered and dares are performed out loud at your table — they never enter the app at all.
Where data lives
Data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, Analytics, Crashlytics) and RevenueCat, under their respective security practices.
Your choices
You can play as a guest without giving us your name. You can sign out at any time. To delete your account and associated data (custom list, purchase record), email us and we'll remove it within 30 days.
Children
Botello is rated for mature audiences (17+). It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. Family decks exist so adults can host a family game night — the phone stays at the table, not with the kids.
